Project Overview

MarketScope is a financial research dashboard that lets you search any ticker and immediately see price, key metrics, and performance in one clean view. I built it because checking a stock usually meant loading a site cluttered with ads, autoplaying video, and three newsletter popups before I could find a single number. I wanted something that did one thing quickly: press /, type a ticker, get the data. The interface is keyboard-first by design, so a lookup takes a couple of seconds rather than a couple of clicks.

I built MarketScope with Next.js and React, fetching live market data from a third-party financial API and transforming the raw response into the metrics shown on screen.  What the interface shows while a request is in flight, what happens when a ticker doesn't exist or returns partial data, and how the app behaves when the API is slow or rate-limited, getting those states right is what makes a data-heavy tool feel fast rather than fragile. The app is deployed on Vercel.
